Our Coaches

2005 Regional Champions

Torie Whiteman

My journey in softball and baseball began at the age of five, and since then, the diamond has been my second home. Transitioning from baseball to softball at 11, I played on several elite travel ball teams, most notably with Absolute Blast. My dedication and passion for the game earned me a scholarship to the University of Washington, where I had the honor of being a utility player for two years.

In 2009, I embarked on my coaching career as an assistant coach at Glacier Peak High School. By 2012, I took on the role of head coach at Mount Vernon High School, leading the team for two incredible years. My coaching repertoire extends to numerous travel ball teams and countless camps and clinics, where I have had the privilege of nurturing young talent in our community. From 2022 to 2024, I served as an assistant coach at Oak Harbor High School, helping shape the next generation of athletes.

Beyond the field, I have coached in various gyms, guiding individuals to excel in their physical fitness. My approach to coaching is holistic, emphasizing the importance of health, fitness, and mental toughness.

I am incredibly passionate about softball and dedicated to helping the youth build pride, grit, and determination. My path to earning a D1 scholarship was driven by passion and effort, proving that commitment to excellence can surpass pure talent. I strive to instill this belief in every young athlete I coach, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with relentless effort and dedication.

Join me as we work together to not only develop softball skills but also life skills that will pave the way for success on and off the field.

Alicia Ashburn

My coaching experience has developed since my time as a D1 softball player at Valparaiso University in the early 2000s. I have coached teams at all levels: little league, high school, travel ball, and college. I have instructed at camps and clinics since I was a high school athlete, and have given private instructions since graduating college.

My philosophy of coaching athletes focuses on the whole person and uses sports as the great metaphors of life. Softball is a game of opportunity, and learning to navigate this amazing game creates strong, confident, capable people in an ever-changing and challenging world.

My experiences as an athlete and coach led me to becoming a certified advisor through Growth-U, specializing in the Human Success Operating System (HSOS) with a Sport Influence Certification. I am passionate about supporting families as their athletes develop their identity as an elite athlete and empowered person.
